How NOT To Lose YOURSELF With A Home Based Business

Being business consultants and offering coaching and business training in several countries, we many times meet people that seem to have lost sight of their personal vision. Who miss the original reasons that lead them to choose to enter a specific franchise, or build an independent or home based business. Since we also operate in the MLM, or network marketing, arena – we find it here too.

Why does it happen ?

What are the causes and what are the symptoms ?

How can YOU avoid this situation and it's repercusions ?
 

Let us take it one at a time:

First, Let us start with the symptoms. That is – how does this problem manifests itself to cause harm, or to drive potentialy succeful business owners to feel that "something is just wrong" or that something very crucial is amiss.

For the aware, there may be very little signs to pay attention to quite early. A prosaic example is when people that choose to be independent  business owners and so represent, or distribute, products of a specific service provider present themselves and THEIR privately owned business as being the service provider.
A good example might be when Simon, let's say, chooses to promote the products of company X. When intruducing himself and HIS business will say "my business is X". All this, when the right introduction may be: "I own business T where I sell the products of company X".

Small difference, you might say. YET it may represent a very significant identification crisis.
One of the core fundamentals of a successful business is branding. If you would like people to become YOUR customers, to see YOUR Business as their prefered supplier in this field – wouldn't you like them to clearly know YOU ? to recognize YOUR Business name when they see it ?
When representing company X the best thing for your busienss, and so for yourself, is to leverage company X's reputation to promote your own.

Here is one more example (all, off course, should be in accordance with any kind of representation agreement you have signed together):
* When using promotion opportunities ALWAYS make sure people (that is potential and active customers) know that it is YOUR advertising. Therefore, it should always make it clear and easy to approach you and your offer. If allowed, use company X logo, or slogan on your business card and car stickers. At the same time use PROMINENT LETTERS to make sure everyone knows this is your unique busienss and offer.

Do you remember what were your main motives to choose this specific business ?
* Was is just the money ?
* Were there any other considerations ?

Where are standing with all this Right Now ?
* Are you closer to your targets ?
* Have you reached the sucess you aimed for ?

Do you have a clear vision of how your success looks like ? what do you do with all the money that your business generates ? do you have enough time for yourself and for other people, or causes, the you deem important ?

We do recommend that if you haven't done so already – take a break, it does not have to be too long. Think, or imagine, what things that are important for you you will achieve when you succeed. Please Write Them Down RIGHT NOW. Since they may be quite private – you most certainly Do NOT have to show them to anyone if you don't want too. Yet, if there is someone you care about or consider a true partner or hold in high esteem – share your wishes and aimes. Many times we find this kind of sharing very helpfull. You may never necesserily know in advance, but It can either help on a daily basis, or as a significant support at the right moment of a formidable crisis.

When you have a renewed vision take the next step. Go again through your orignal business plan. Check what was planned and what happend in reality.  Make the required adjustment to reach goals, now that you are in a unique position – having both the accumulated experience AND the renewed vision and targets.
